Water. It has been a sore spot for some time in our house.

It revolves around the lack of hot water. We had a traditional hot water tank when we moved into our house. It was on its last legs and gave out. So, needing a new one, we got a tankless system. And we were happy with it initially. However, we have now found out it came with a small problem that would turn out to plague us. The manufacturer forgot to tell the installer that a separate extra filter was required. It had to be gotten from a third party source. Not installed, the system would eventually clog up with waste particles. This made it harder and harder to keep it running. A refrain often heard in our house lately was, "Somebody go down and reset the hot water tank. There's no hot water." As I write this, it is being resolved. More on that later.

Water is hugely important. In dry climates, collection and conservation are key. In more tropical environments, management of large amounts is needful. As humans, we have been doing so for millennia. The longest aqueduct is thought to have been at Carthage. It is reported to be 178 kilometres long. In China, one city has been managing water since around 250 BC. Water has always been critical to us. And as Canadians, we are very blessed. We have some 20% of the total world's supply of fresh water. I know water well because I used to play in our "lake". I put it in quotation marks because I could never see the boundaries of Lake Ontario from where I stood. It was vast and huge to me. And we find water from the beginning to the end of the bible.

It is there in Genesis 1:2. It is there in Revelation 22:1 and 2. And in many places in between. And we are always thirsty again. Because we can go for some time without food. We die quickly without water. God gives us a gift, a special gift of water. I refer you to John 4. We who follow Jesus have living water. (Verses 13 and 14.) I do commend the whole chapter to you.

Now, back to our water. We have been blessed with two gifts. The company will supply a new tankless system for us at no charge. The plumbing company will honour the 3 year warranty, even though we are just past it. The labour is all we have to pay. And we are getting a 75% reduction on that as well. So, how well are you watered right now? Pr. Scott
