OSLC and the Micah Challenge
Can you imagine what would happen if a group of people with untold resources, passion and energy started asking the question, "How do we hear the voice of the oppressed?". We are trying to understand what it means to live out Micah's call to "To act justly, show mercy, and walk humbly with your God.

At OSLC we are getting involved. Our youth are leading the way as they raise funds for special projects like micro-finance, providing clean water in areas of the world hit hardest by a lack of clean drinking water. We are just getting started in our efforts to be in a partnership with God that includes being a part of the "Redemptive" process. We are also looking at what it means to be a "green" congregation as we begin to make an effort to respect God's creation through environmental actions, recycling, and making a smaller fottprint on this wonderful world we live in.
We are also beginning to explore ways to work at improving the quality of life in the inner city of Edmonton. We are excited about what is just beginning to take place here at OSLC but we are just now scratching the surface. There is more we can (and will) do.
We also are beginning to understand Jesus' personal mission statement recorded in Luke 4: 16-19
16 When he came to Nazereth, where he had been brought up, he went to the synagogue on the Sabbath day, as was his custom. He stood up to read 17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. He unrolled the scroll and found the place where it is written:
18 "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has annointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim release to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to let the oppressed go free, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor"
