Who Are You? (…who, who; who, who; who, who…)

Pastor Phil is a recent graduate of Lutheran Theological Seminary in Saskatoon.  He has been an ordained pastor in the ELCIC for all of one month and he also happens to be the newly minted Lead Pastor of OSLC.  He lives in Beaumont together with his wife (Tessa), daughter (Zephyra), and dog (Baku).  The drive into the city’s West End affords him with the blessing of ample time to ask and ponder BIG questions.

OSLC Community News: Project Haiti Relief

There are times in life when an event hits that is so overwhelming as to be difficult to comprehend. Such was the event that hit Haiti in January. I cannot fathom a 7.0 magnitude earthquake, but I have seen on CNN and other news stations the unbelievable destruction that has taken place. The pictures (and sounds) of pain and death are haunting and my heart aches for the families and victims of this tragedy. Some estimate the death toll to be 100,000 and the Red Cross has indicated about one-third of Haitians (3 million people) are affected by the earthquake.

OSLC Partners With CLWR Water Projects

Web Banner - CharityWater.orgMany of us take a trip to the kitchen sink for a glass of water for granted. We also consider a shower or bath a necessary part of our daily routine. We have fresh water on demand...but their are millions of people who don't.

SO, at OSLC we plan to do something about that problem. We are going to partner with Canadian Lutheran World Relief CLWR)  to provide clean, safe drinking water to as many villages as we can. We want to make it possible for as many of those 1 billion people who don't have safe drinking water to have access to what GOD gave to all of us - CLEAN Water.

As part of our effort to make a difference (to be part of God's redemptive process and to live out the Micah Challenge), we will be challenging our community of faith (OSLC) to share their financial resources and provide life-giving clean water to those without it at present.

OSLC and the Micah Challenge

Can you imagine what would happen if a group of people with untold resources, passion and energy started asking the question, "How do we hear the voice of the oppressed?".
